SDSU’s Lightner Elected to
National Board of Directors for Beta Alpha Psi
SAN DIEGO (February 20, 2008) – The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced today that Sharon Lightner has been elected to the national board of directors for Beta Alpha Psi. Lightner is currently director of the School of Accountancy at SDSU.
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization whose primary objective is to provide recognition to students and professionals who have achieved scholastic and/or professional excellence in the fields of accounting, finance, or information systems. There are 263 chapters on college and university campuses with over 300,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi's formation in 1919.
Lightner was elected to serve as director-at-large for the western and northwest region to the organization and will begin a three-year term starting August 1, 2008. Previously, she served as a faculty advisor to SDSU’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter from 1985-1990 and 1992-2006 for which she had received national recognition for her outstanding service.
