SAN DIEGO, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 – San Diego State University’s (SDSU) College of Business Administration and Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei have formed a partnership to offer a concurrent graduate degree program.
Students in the program will earn an MBA from Fu Jen and a Master of Science in Business Administration from SDSU. Students take courses from faculty at Fu Jen’s Taipei campus, and attend two residency periods for courses conducted by SDSU faculty on the San Diego campus. The degrees are recognized by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, the first such program to be recognized by the Ministry.
“This is the first time that SDSU’s College of Business Administration has collaborated with a foreign partner for a concurrent graduate degree program,” said SDSU College of Business Administration Dean Gail Naughton. “We look forward to developing multiple international collaborations that expose our students to global business education.”
In addition to the Fu Jen partnership, SDSU currently offers a four-year concurrent program leading to a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor Degree with California Western School of Law. The objective of the program is to prepare students who are competent in both of law and business administration for advanced practice in many areas where the fields converge. SDSU also has teamed with Invitrogen Corporation and other biotechnology industry leaders to establish the first joint Ph.D./MBA program in the nation that focuses both degrees in the life sciences and features direct involvement with biotech companies.
“This partnership with SDSU further demonstrates our university’s motto, “Local Touch, Global View,” which is meaningful to both universities,” said Dr. Yu-Chao Chou, director of Fu Jen’s Global Business Program. “Fu Jen welcomes any San Diego student who wishes to participate in this program and study in Taiwan.”
