SDSU Accounting Professor Named Outstanding Faculty Advisor
SAN DIEGO (May 5, 2011) - The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced that SDSU accounting professor Dr. David DeBoskey was chosen to receive the Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, sponsored by McGladrey. DeBoskey, from SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, was one of only five Beta Alpha Psi faculty advisors throughout the U.S. to be recognized. With 289 chapters, Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary and service organization for accounting, finance and information systems students attending AACSB- or EQUIS-accredited universities. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in order to be a member. As an advisor for the past five years to SDSU’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter, DeBoskey has led the chapter to numerous awards including the KPMG Gold Challenge (2009 and 2010) and they are a finalist for the Ernst & Young Diversity award (2011). He has also led the group in a host of community service and academic activities that provide participating students with meaningful educational and community service experiences. “Dr. DeBoskey has consistently provided the outstanding guidance and support that has led SDSU’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter to being one of the highest-achieving chapters within the organization.” said Dr. Sharon Lightner, director of SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. “The honor given to Dr. DeBoskey is well deserved and we are proud to have him as an exceptional faculty member at the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy.” “I appreciate and am honored by the recognition bestowed by Beta Alpha Psi and the generosity shown by McGladrey,” said Dr. DeBoskey. “I am especially proud of the exceptional students that have been affiliated with the SDSU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, because without them, we would not have achieved the outstanding success we have experienced in the past few years.”
