Darcy Recognized at SAIC Event Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) hosted College of Business and other SDSU alumni who work at the companys La Jolla campus at a reception on January 13. The guests heard an update about the College from Dean Gail Naughton at the event hosted by School of Accountancy alums, Paul Sager, 78, and Tom Darcy, 73. Darcy was surprised with an award for his outstanding contributions to
the College but had another reason to celebrate. He was just promoted
to corporate executive vice president of SAIC, a Fortune 500 company which
ranks as the largest employee-owned research and engineering firm in the
nation. His previous position was executive vice president. He continues
as the company's CFO. After graduating from SDSU, Darcy joined Pricewaterhouse (which became
PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he was admitted to the partnership in 1985.
He eventually assumed worldwide responsibility for the firms relationship
with Compaq Computer Corporation and later with the Walt Disney Company. Darcy joined SAIC in October 2000 and has been responsible for all of
the companys financial functions as well as the internal information
systems. He serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Business
and the SDSU Campanile Foundation as well as the Beyster Institute. The Darcys are generous contributors to the College and have helped fund
many programs, including the Vern Odmark Chair in Accounting. "The College of Business Administration is rapidly moving to become
one of the top business schools in the country, notes Darcy. In
addition to educating our future San Diego business leaders, the College
is a great source of pride for all us in this community." Tom and his wife, Jan, also a San Diego State University graduate, live in the Del Mar area. They have three children, Christopher, Andrew and Robin. The entire family enjoys participating in most outdoor sports, including wakeboarding. |
