EMC Launched Fall 2009 Lavin VentureStart Program

VC
New entrepreneurial students and their parents enjoyed a reception hosted by the EMC on Friday, August 28, 2009.

Now in its second year, the Lavin VentureStart Entrepreneur Program kicks off the new school year with 19 undergraduate students who will participate. The Program provides these students with advice on how to build their own businesses; input from attorneys, bankers, accountants and venture capitalists; participation in Entrepreneur Day@SDSU (spring 2010); and access to local entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Many of these students will also participate in the Lavin VentureStart Competition. This campus-wide business plan contest begins on September 1, 2009 and culminates with the final plan presentations on December 2, 2009 at the Aztec Athletic Center auditorium. The Competition is open to all SDSU graduate and undergraduate students.

The Competition offers a series of workshops throughout the semester that are designed to help students with their business plans and final presentations. Final presentations are conducted by each student group to a panel of judges who offer feedback and determine the most viable plan. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three contestants.

Local entrepreneurs and SDSU alumni are encouraged to participate in both events.
