SDSU’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team took first place in their league at the SIFE USA Regional Competition, held April 2, in Chicago. The SIFE program boasts 1500 college chapters in 48 countries. The students in the program create economic opportunities within their communities by providing economic assistance and business expertise to small organizations, budding entrepreneurs and local citizens, both domestically and internationally. The team from SDSU presented their class project in which they provided business consulting for seven small businesses from National City, California during the fall semester, 2008. A panel of 15 judges gave SDSU top marks for the project, presentation and overall team sustainability. The seven-student team will now participate for the overall top spot at the 2009 SIFE USA National Exposition to be held May 10 – 12 in Philadelphia. They are also finalists and will compete in the Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship portions of the competition. |
