Varaiya Discusses Economic Climate
On Wednesday, April 1, SDSU finance professor, Dr. Nikhil Varaiya, presented “The Current Economic Environment” to current and former EMBA students. The presentation and the reception following it took place at the Aztec Athletic Center Hall of Fame on the SDSU campus.
During the presentation, Varaiya discussed why this economic downturn will not be as severe as the one in the 1920’s and 1930’s. He also took a historic look at the general health of the U.S. economy, providing an overview as to how the stock market, financial institutions and housing got to where they are today.
The presentation was the first in the SDSU Executive MBA Distinguished Lecture Series in which current events will be discussed by local experts on a quarterly basis.
