SDSU Grad and First American Financial CEO,
Gilmore, Visits Campus

First American Financial Corporation CEO, Dennis Gilmore (marketing, ’81), paid a visit to the SDSU campus on April 23, 2009. During the visit, Gilmore spoke to members of the Finance & Investment Society (FIS) and well over 100 real estate and finance students and CBA professors regarding his formula for success and his views on the U.S. economy.

During his speech, Gilmore admitted that the past year has been the toughest year that First American had ever faced, primarily due to the struggling real estate market. He now feels that the economy has hit bottom and is now on the rebound. Gilmore also discussed how global outsourcing has helped the company to be able to run 24 hours a day, making it far more productive.

Gilmore said that his SDSU experience provided him with the people skills he needed to navigate his success in the business world.
