College of Business Administration Salutes Student Soldiers/Veterans

The following profiles are those SDSU business students that are serving their country either as current U.S. military personnel or as U.S. military veterans.

Dave

David Buell
U.S. Navy veteran and SDSU management major, David Buell, will complete his degree this May.

Buell, a native of Santa Cruz, California, began his service with the Navy in 1998, where he served on the U.S.S. Frank-Cable in Guam until 2002. From 2002 to 2006 he was stationed in San Diego, when he received an honorable discharge and began his education at SDSU.

During his time in the Navy, Buell was an electrician that serviced submarines throughout the Pacific, including those docked in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.

Molly

Molly Goodman
SDSU accounting major and junior, Molly Goodman, is currently serving in the Naval Reserves as a petty officer, second class (LN2), at the 32nd Street Naval Base in San Diego. Goodman is a legalman (paralegal), working with the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, which provides legal assistance to Navy personnel.

Originally from Bend, Oregon, Goodman was previously deployed in Monterey, California and Meridian, Mississippi. She was also stationed in Washington, D.C. from 2000 to 2002, where she served with the Ceremonial Guard, also called the Presidential Honor Guard. Her duties with the Ceremonial Guard included marching at funerals at Arlington National Cemetery (including some of those lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks), greeting Pentagon dignitary arrivals, and wreath-layings at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Navy Memorial. Goodman also marched in the 2001 inauguration of George W. Bush.

Goodman has earned numerous military honors and awards, including finishing at the top of her class in Reserve Legalman A-School and receiving a total of five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals during her time in active and reserve duty.

Shelley

Shelley House
Pre-business major, Shelley House, exemplifies the term “student soldier”. House grew up and in Hastings, Nebraska, which is where she joined the U.S. Marine Corps. She has been accepted into an officer commissioning program, which allows her to take classes full-time at SDSU. She is also the VP of membership and marketing for SDSU’s Student Veteran Organization.

House has served at bases in Washington, D.C. Pensacola, Florida and Camp Pendleton. She completed a tour of duty in Iraq from April to November, 2007. This Dean’s List student is also the assistant supply officer for her Navy-ROTC battalion at SDSU and was recently honored with a Physical Training Award for achieving a near-perfect score (295 out of 300) on her Physical Fitness Test (PFT).

While technically a senior due to the transfer of her military credits, House is in the process of finishing her general education courses and expects to graduate with a degree in Business Administration (specializing in management) in 2011.

Enno

Enno Albert Rodriguez
SDSU junior and U.S. Marine, Enno Rodriguez, is in the process of completing his degree in business administration with an emphasis in management.  A native of San Bruno, California, Rodriguez is currently serving the in Navy-ROTC and will become an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps once he earns his degree.
