The SDSU Finance & Investment Society’s Economic Forum hosted a presentation by Dr. Chris Thornberg, co-founder of Beacon Economics and one of California’s most respected economic forecasters. The event was hosted at the Aztec Center on November 10, 2008 and was attended primarily by students and faculty from the College of Business Administration.
Thornberg’s presentation provided perspective on the current market movements and offered up a set of metrics that served to create a picture of the recent economic volatility. He dismissed the idea of the next great depression, but did point out that the economy that will have to endure more blows before experiencing any type of recovery.
Thornberg concluded by pointing out that Americans need to take a hard look at their spending habits and reassess their personnel financial situations, which will assist in the road to economic recovery.
