Eight SDSU alumni were honored for business and civic leadership at the Lamden Rising Stars Awards ceremony, held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at AMN Healthcare’s facilities in San Diego.
The awards recognized those individuals who had earned their undergraduate or graduate degrees from SDSU within the past 15 years. Those who have earned a degree in business administration, an M.B.A., executive M.B.A. or in international business were qualified. Individuals chosen to receive the awards were selected on the basis of their outstanding business accomplishments, community service and/or service to SDSU.
The 2009 honorees are:

Steven W. Griffith (’07, EMBA)
Zeynep Ilgaz (’00, MBA)
Meagan M. Karnes (’04, MBA)
Cathy Lloyd Bauerle (’01, management)
Jana Malhas (’04, information systems)
Roger J. Power (’94, accounting)
SDSU president, Dr. Stephen Weber, discussed the impact of award’s namesake, Dr. Charles W. Lamden, on the university and on the College of Business Administration. Dr. Gail Naughton, dean of the College of Business Administration, introduced members of the Lamden family and presented the awards as the master of ceremonies, KNSD’s Artie Ojeda (’85, journalism) introduced the honorees.
The event was sponsored by AMN Healthcare, Jack in the Box, Behind the Scenes Catering & Events, Printsmith Solutions, ProFlowers, Wylie Photography, and Aztec Shops.
