SDSU Team Takes First Runner Up in Business Strategy Competition

Twenty-three teams from six states and three foreign countries participated in the 44th Annual International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition that was held April 17-19 at the Bahia Resort in San Diego. The SDSU team received the first runner up trophy for Outstanding Performance in their division at the competition. They met with the judges twice, presenting their final results and responding to questions about strategy, finances, and marketing.
In preparation for the intense stage of the competition, students prepared a strategic business plan and then submitted a series of quarterly business decisions simulating five business years. The team also prepared an Annual Report to submit to the judges at the event.
Professor Carol Venable advised a diverse group of five team members from the Business Honors Program. The team consists of Duyen Aller (accounting), Laura Carwana (integrated marketing communications), Matt Clifford (finance), Marissa Shirley (marketing), and Shiung-Jin Yong (accounting).
