College Unveils New Branding
Last year, while the college was celebrating its 50th anniversary to honor its past, a committee was working behind the scenes to develop new branding for the CBA that will pave the way for its future.
Taking Dean Naughton’s vision of preparing students to work in the global economy, the committee decided on a new positioning statement for the college: Leadership for the Global Marketplace.
“This tagline really tells the story of who we are becoming as a college,” Naughton said. “We already have a lot of faculty expertise in this area and are currently building more programs that will prepare students to be successful anywhere they choose.”
A few of the international distinctions of the CBA include:
- In 1989, SDSU’s Center for International Business Education and Research was one of the first centers established by the US Dept. of Education;
- Accounting Professor Chee Chow was recently named “International Accounting Educator of the Year” for 2006;
- SDSU’s International Business program, the largest of its kind, has been in the top 10 nationally for the last two years (ranked by US News and World Report);
- CBA faculty are sought-after around the world to teach in their areas of expertise;
- The World Trade Center San Diego presented the International Business Program with its Distinguished Service Award;
- The college offers MSBA programs in Taiwan, Beijing and Singapore.
- The International Business program was named best study abroad program in the country – in any area of study – by the Institute on International Education in New York.
- The MEXUS program is the first United States-Mexican dual undergraduate business degree program. CaMexUs is the first undergraduate triple degree program between Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
Dean Naughton promises that more good news related to the college’s global education efforts will be forthcoming. Watch for it in future editions of Inside Business.
