2006 Faculty/Staff Awards

Each year, the College of Business Administration honors those faculty and staff members who have gone “above and beyond the call of duty” to further the mission and goals of the College. Dean Gail Naughton said, “This year’s winners demonstrate the commitment of our employees to delivering the highest quality education possible. I salute their hard work and diligence in making SDSU the great place it is.”

YolandaYolanda Anglin, Assistant Director, Resource Management
Anglin was nominated by colleagues for her “outstanding work in our self-support programs as well as in our recruiting for Administrative positions. Your approaches to these tasks as well as tasks that you have taken on have helped to achieve the goals that the College of Business Administration is working towards.”

KarenKaren Courtney, Director of Executive
and Specialized Programs

Courtney received praise for her “efforts put forth in organizing and maintaining the EMBA and Sports MBA programs. The work that you have done to create strong and admired programs is a great asset to the College. The visibility that you have given these programs has helped to further the College of Business Administration as a whole.”

BethBeth Chung-Herrera, Management Professor
Chung-Herrera’s nominator said, “The passion and care that you have shown in the classroom is revealed through your ratings as a teacher. You are being recognized for the constant effort that you give to improving your skills as a teacher and for being such a strong mentor to the students of San Diego State University.”

SandySandy Ehrlich, Executive Director of the EMC
Ehrlich’s nominator noted his “outstanding efforts put forth as the Executive Director of the Entrepreneurial Management Center. You are being recognized for the continual support you lend to the programs as well as the hard work you have put into it. The professionalism and care you have shown for the overall goals and visions of the College are a valuable part of the success we have had.”

PaulPaul Graf, Finance Professor
Graf is honored for his “continual commitment to providing quality education at SDSU, as well as your enthusiasm towards the subjects you are teaching. The devotion and work you have put in to the MBA for Executives Programs is very much appreciated by the Executive and Specialized Programs Office.”

DavetteDavette Kawachi, Accountancy/IDS Department Coordinator
Kawachi is valued “for helping to create a team that works well together and an efficiently run department.  You always maintain a professional, positive and friendly attitude to all that enter the department office.”

 

TovaTova Miracle, Program Coordinator, Executive and Specialized Programs
Miracle receives acknowledgement “for being a team player and picking things up quickly in a lot of areas, particularly with the Sports Management MBA program.”

 

LoriLori Ryan, Management Professor/Co-Director CGI
Ryan is lauded for her “efforts in the forming and upholding of Corporate Governance Institute (CGI). The stability that you have created within this program, your prolific researching, as well as the work you put forth in your national professional organization has helped to achieve the goals and visions that the College of Business Administration is working towards.”

DebDebra Schwartz, Finance/ Management/Marketing Dept. Coordinator
Schwartz is acknowledged for “transitioning into your new position without interruption to the daily operations of your department.  Also, your positive attitude, great work ethics, patience in learning, and willingness to go the extra mile are great assets to your department.”

DonDon Sciglimpaglia, Marketing Professor
Sciglimpaglia is honored for “the work that you are doing with the BA 404 groups and the recognition in National City Projects has helped to further the goals of SDSU. Your involvement in SIFE is much appreciated and highly valued.”

 

GangaramGangaram Singh, Management Department Chair
Singh is recognized for his “invaluable efforts put forth as the Chairman of the Management Department, Co- Director of CIBER and your overall dedication to the international programs at SDSU. In addition to all of the effort you have put forth in these positions your commitment to the students of SDSU has made you a respected and valued faculty member.”

MicheleMichele Titone, Special Assistant to the Dean
Titone is honored “for being very professional and very efficient. You appear to be available 24/7 and are very professional and efficient. You provide an effective but friendly screen to Dean Naughton. You do this with an incredible sense of humor and a fun, but serious attitude.  We're lucky to have you in the College of Business!”

HowardHoward Toole, Accountancy Professor
Toole is acknowledged for his “outstanding efforts and continual work for the College of Business Administration even as a FERP. The work that you are doing with the BA 404 groups and your recognition in Nation City Projects has helped to further the goals of SDSU. Your involvement in SIFE is much appreciated, and your participation on the Steering Committee is highly valued.”

CarolCarol Venable, Accountancy Professor/CBA Honors Program Director
Venable is acknowledged for her “involvement and outstanding work in the continual development and upholding of the Honors Program. In addition to serving as the director, your commitment to the advisory committee for the Honors program is very valued. You are being recognized for the invaluable contributions you have made to the School of Accountancy.”

JoleneJolene Weston, Student Assistant in Dean’s Office
Weston receives recognition for her “invaluable work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs over this past year. You stepped in during Kelly Doiron's maternity leave and have been instrumental in working on the new faculty database which will give us better methods for data reporting for accreditation.  I was truly impressed by your fast learning curve to handle such a variety of difficult processes and your can-do attitude.”
