Class Notes are submitted by CBA alumni as a way to reconnect to their classmates and SDSU.

Yukon Palmer (Business, ’98; Entrepreneurship, ‘02) is President and founder of Field Technologies.  Field Technologies was founded in 2002 and provides GPS tracking systems for vehicles and equipment.  They focus on providing industry leading wireless products and support to business fleets throughout the country.  The company has revenue growth of nearly 500 percent for the year of 2006.  Palmer was recently nominated for the “Top 120 Influential’s” in San Diego by the San Diego Daily Transcript.

Charles Pettersen (Accounting, ’64) is the owner of Rod & Reel Exchange based in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.  Rod & Reel Exchange buys, sells, renovates and trades deep sea fishing rods and reels in addition to being a power seller on eBay.  He started this company upon retirement after a career as a CPA and CFO in San Diego.  He and his wife Judy have been married for 46 years.

Kara McDermott (Business, ’01) is a Human Resource Generalist at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in New York.  Upon graduation she worked as an HR Manager at Althea Technologies for three years until she took her current position.  She received her masters in history at Hunter College.

Upon graduation, Rachel Miller (Accounting, ‘02) was nominated by SDSU to participate in the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in Norwalk, CT.  After being selected, she participated in its one-year Postgraduate Technical Assistant program.  Following her time at FASB, Miller joined Citigroup’s investment bank in New York City as Assistant Vice President of Accounting Advisory and Policy.  She recently transferred into Citigroup’s credit card business where she serves as Vice President of Accounting in Las Vegas, NV.

Tanishe Pitts (Management, ’94) is an HR Professional currently working for IBM.  She joined IBM after grad school and has held various roles as a consultant and now in their HR department.

Jon Schwartz (Accounting, ’92) is the Vice President of Finance at Crosswinds National, LLC, a national home building and land development company.  He has held previous positions with C&L (a Big Four CPA firm), Dominos Pizza, and for Olympia Entertainment, a company owned by the family that owns the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Little Caesars.

Katherine Wichmann Zacharias (International Business, ’93) is half owner of Evolve Digital a printing company.  Evolve Digital offers graphic design services, as well as services for printing business cards, flyers, brochures, banners, posters, vehicle graphics, and window clings.  Zacharias is very involved in the local community.  She is an Ambassador with the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Surfrider Foundation, Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana, San Diego Association of Health Underwriters, National Association of Health Underwriters and Ingragard.

Gary Kudej (IDS, ’85) is a Mainframe Technical Support Specialist for ADP in Ohio.  He has worked for ADP since 1986 and has progressed through several roles, including Manager of Computer Operations.

Cynthia Armstrong (Accounting, ’97) is a Client Service Specialist at Goodman & Company.  After graduation she transferred within her job to the Washington DC area and not long after transferred to the Virginia Beach area.  She always wanted to do client work such as monthly write-ups and tax prep and is very happy with her career at this point.

Robert Willgoss (Financial and Tax Planning, ’93) is Assistant Vice President for Merrill Lynch.  He has spent the past 11 years as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch., five years in La Mesa and the last six years in Rancho Bernardo.  Willgoss says, “He is delighted with his career and has fond remembrances for Professor John Bost, whose love and enthusiasm for his field made an indelible impression on me.”

Robert Beck (Business, ’66, ’68) is the Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Public Policy at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey.  After graduation from SDSU, he spent 35 years around the globe with several global corporations like IBM, BankAmerica, Abbott Labs, Gateway and Scient.  He was held many positions with the U.S. Government and has served on many non-profit boards such as UC Berkeley, USC, and Stanford.  He is currently on the Yosemite Fund Council.  He has been awarded the Lester Breslow Distinguished Lecturer at UCLA, Business School Graduate of the Year at SDSU and Personnel Executive of the Year.

William Biggs (Production Management, ’69, MBA, ’73) retired in 2000 after 20 years as President of Biggs Equipment, Inc., a construction equipment sales company.  Upon retirement, he moved to Northern California and completed a three month trip to Alaska.
