Ryan Named to Journal Editorial Boards; Publishes Journal Articles

Associate Professor of Management Lori Ryan has been named to the editorial boards of influential business journals Academy of Management Review (AMR), rated as the highest impact journal in management by the Web of Science, as well as Business Ethics Quarterly, the business ethics field’s most respected journal.

Ryan has also been busy as an author, writing an article titled “Foundation and Form of the Field of Business Ethics” for Journal of Private Enterprise, the journal of the Association of Private Enterprise Education.

In August, Ryan was invited to serve as an “expert mentor” at an Academy of Management workshop intended to teach researchers how to publish in top-tier Management journals.

Lightner and Oestreich Present Case at NACRA Annual Meeting

Accounting professors Sharon Lightner and Nathan Oestreich presented their case “Winton & Bradley, A Professional Corporation: We Gotta Win!” at the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) Annual Meeting on October 27 and 28. The case, which is adaptable to various financial accounting courses, deals with the question as to when a contingent-free law firm should recognize income and record case costs for financial statement purposes. The case was co-authored by Point Loma Nazarene University recent accounting graduate Brad Oestreich.

Oestreich also recently began his second year as a member of the Individual Taxation Technical Resource Panel of the Tax Division of the AICPA at its annual meeting in Washington, DC on October 31 and November 1.

Russell Presents Research in Chicago

Marketing professor Cristel Russell presented her research titled “Using Product Placement to Connect with Consumers” at the Marketing Science Institute Board of Trustees Meeting in Chicago the week of October 31. The theme of the conference was “Connecting with Customers in a Complex World.”

 

In Memoriam

Dr. Ellis C. Archer, who taught at SDSU for sixteen years, passed away on November 8, 2005. Dr. Archer was an IDS professor from 1956-1979 and was employed as a retired annuitant through 1982. He was 91.
