Overview of IICBI at San Diego State UniversityThrough its relationships with various universities around the world, SDSU has discovered that many biotechnology concepts with the power to alter and sustain life never make it to research, development or marketplace. The keys to unlocking the miracles of science that will forever impact humankind are never given a chance to move from idea to reality. Entities often lack the resources and expertise to accomplish the task of bringing concepts from the lab bench to market. Working with leading universities to expedite biomedical concepts into development and the marketplace is the goal behind the International Institute for the Commercialization of Biomedical Innovation (IICBI) at San Diego State University. The IICBI will work with partner universities to identify and in-license technologies. Students, faculty, and key life science business leaders will develop a business plan, IP strategy, patent disclosure, regulatory plan, and competitive strategy for the technology and identify and pursue commercial partners to develop and market the end product.
