Can I waive out of the MBA or MSBA program core courses? If so, how?
Students who earned an undergraduate degree in a business-related field or have completed business-related courses have the opportunity to request to have one or more MBA core courses waived. Courses may be waived if an equivalent course was taken at an AACSB-accredited university within the past 5 years and the student earned a grade of ‘B’ or higher in that course. Courses completed at non-AACSB accredited institutions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
The following table shows the undergraduate courses at SDSU that can be used to waive each of the core course requirements.

Can I waive out of the MSA program core courses? If so, how?
Students who earned an undergraduate degree in a business or accounting-related field may request to waive out of the MSA core courses. Waiver decisions will be based upon when the course was completed, the university at which it was completed, and the grade received in the course.
Satisfactory completion means that the student’s grade in each course must be “B” (3.0) or better and that the course must have been completed within seven years prior to the first course completed on the master’s degree program. The seven year requirement may be waived by the School of Accountancy adviser.
As an international student, am I eligible for financial aid?
International students attending SDSU are not eligible for any federal or state financial aid programs. However, ISC Scholarships are sometimes available. You should regularly check with ISC for information. Most academic departments offer University Scholarships which are competitive and based on scholastic performance at SDSU. International graduates and undergraduates may apply for any University Scholarship for which they are eligible. More information and application forms for University Scholarships can be obtained through SDSU's Scholarship Office. What is the latest date to add/drop a class?
Please refer to the Academic Calendar for the exact deadlines. The drop deadline is typically around the 10th day of the semester. The add deadline is typically two days after the drop deadline.
How do I take a leave of absence?
Students must request a leave of absence for each semester they will be absent. Go to your web portal account to request a leave. A leave of absence will be granted if you are a graduate student who has completed at least one semester of graduate work. You must be in good academic standing. You cannot be granted a leave of absence if you are on probation or have been disqualified. In addition, you cannot have a registration hold.
Do I have to repeat a class if I receive a C-?
Yes, if you received a grade of C- or lower in a course listed on your program of study, you must repeat the class. The two grades will be averaged into your grade point average.
What is the process to apply for graduation?
Graduation is not automatic upon the completion of degree requirements. An Application for Graduation with an Advanced Degree is only available from the Graduate Division and must be filed with the appropriate fee at the Cashier's Office. Students are encouraged to apply the semester prior to anticipated graduation as the deadline for each semester usually occurs during the second week of classes. No late applications are accepted. Additional information is available on the Graduate Affairs web site: http://gra.sdsu.edu/grad/appgradadvdgr.html
If I have completed all of the necessary steps to graduate, how do I know if I have been officially advanced to candidacy?
If you have completed all of the steps above, you will receive notification via mail from the Graduate Division detailing your advancement to candidacy.
I am an international student interested in practical training. What are the opportunities?
