Apply & Submit Materials

The materials required to apply to all three of the SDSU Graduate Business Programs are identical. The application materials and application steps are outlined below. Applicants should not submit materials other than those listed below (such as awards, certificates, etc.) as SDSU will only review the materials below during the admission process.  Please note that SDSU does not conduct interviews as part of the admissions process for any student. Also, paper copies of all materials must be sent to SDSU. We do not accept email or fax copies of any materials.

STEP 1: REQUIRED MATERIALS

Apply & Pay Application Fee
Students must submit an online application through CSU Mentor system at www.csumentor.edu. Paper applications are not available. In order to complete the online application, prospective students are required to pay a $55 application fee.

Transcripts
Applicants must submit official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions from which they have received course credit. A transcript will be considered official only if it is in a sealed envelope. If the student attended San Diego State University, they do not need to include SDSU transcripts or any transcripts previously submitted to SDSU.

Test Scores
GMAT: Applicants must submit official GMAT scores. The scores must be sent directly to SDSU from the Educational Testing Service.  When at the testing center, students should choose to have their scores sent to SDSU. The correct institution number for San Diego State University is 9LT-2P-73

TOEFL: If students graduated from an institution where the primary language of instruction is any language other than English, the applicant is required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS.

The required materials listed above should be mailed to the following Enrollment Services address:

STEP 2: SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS

The supplemental materials listed below are optional, but recommended for applicants to submit.  If applicants choose to submit these materials, it is recommended that they send them to SDSU within one week of the completion of their online application. If applicants anticipate an extensive delay in getting supplemental materials to SDSU, we recommend that they send an email to the Graduate Business Programs office (sdsumba@mail.sdsu.edu) so we can hold the prospective student’s application and evaluate it only after all the supplemental materials have arrived.

Resume
Graduate business education is greatly enhanced if you have significant full-time work experience after completing your undergraduate degree.  While work experience is not a requirement for admission to the SDSU Graduate Business Programs, applicants are encouraged to submit a resume.

Letters of Recommendation
Up to three letters of recommendation may be submitted by each student.  Letters of recommendation from professional managers, colleagues, and former professors are preferred.  SDSU does not have a required format for recommendations or specific questions to address, but letters should be kept to a maximum of two pages and the student’s name should be clearly identified in the reference line.  Letters of recommendation forwarded by the applicant should be sent in a sealed envelope with the recommender’s signature across the seal.  Recommenders may send the letters directly to SDSU.

Statement of Purpose (Personal Statement)
Applicants are encouraged to submit a statement of purpose to SDSU.  The statement is the applicants the opportunity to express why the graduate degree they are seeking will advance their career and why they are pursuing the degree at this point in their career.  Students with low undergraduate degree GPAs may use the statement to explain the circumstances that led to the low marks.  There are no length requirements, however we ask that students not exceed two typed pages double-spaced with one-inch margins.

Please note that space is provided in the CSU Mentor application for a personal statement, however the space for the statement is limited.  Students who wish to write a longer Statement of Purpose may simply note in the CSU Mentor Application Personal Statement section that they will forward their statement directly to the Graduate Business Programs office.

Copy of Unofficial GMAT Score
If available, applicants should send in a copy of their unofficial GMAT score report along with the above materials.

Copy of TOEFL or IELTS Score
If applicable and available, applicants should send in a copy of their TOEFL or IELTS score report along with the above materials.

The optional materials listed above (resume, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, GMAT and/or TOEFL scores) should be mailed to the following Graduate Business Programs address:
