Sources of Business/Financial Data

SDSU subscribes to the following data services

Research Insight
Create financial reports and analyze company performance using information from S&P's Compustat database. Reports can be easily created using both predefined templates and user-defined reports. Screening tools are also available to construct customized samples.

To access RIWeb, you must use a computer on campus, such as a laptop connected to the SDSU network or a PC in the Student Computing Center located on the second floor of the library. You will automatically have access to the database – no usernames or passwords are needed. At the present time, it is not possible to access RIWeb from off campus.

To access RIWeb from your own computer, you will need to download and install an “Excel add-in.” Accessing RIWeb is done from within Excel. A handout explains how to download and install the RIWeb Excel add-in and provides step-by-step instructions to complete two common tasks. Additional information is available in a Primer for Getting Started. (These guides are avaialble only to users on the SDSU campus.)
