Professor, Finance
Tony Cherin is a professor of finance. Before coming to SDSU, he
was on the faculty at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where
he received the university-wide Outstanding Instructor Teaching
Award. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award in Finance at SDSU
in 1996. His fields of interest include banking, financial markets,
financial services and investments. He has consulted for several
large financial institutions such as Great American Bank, Point
Loma Federal Credit Union, and Prudential Securities and has been
an expert witness in several major institutional cases. His research
has appeared in many journals including The Financial Review,
Review of Business and Economic Research, Journal of Business and
Economic Perspectives, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics,
and The Journal of Risk and Insurance, and he has been frequently
quoted in the media. He is a member of the Financial Management
Association, the Southern Finance Association, the Mid-West Finance
Association, the American Risk and Insurance Association, and a
founding member of the Academy of Financial Services. Ph.D., University
