Mark
C. Butler,
Ph.D. Mark C. Butler is Professor Emeritus of Management at SDSU and teaches courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Research Methods. He has taught in the EMBA program since 1990. During his tenure at SDSU, Mark served as the Chairman of the Department of Management, and as the Co-Chairman of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program. Mark also holds positions as a Research Professor of Crisis and Risk Management at Sheffield University in England, as a Visiting Professor of Management at the University of Abertay in Dundee, Scotland, as a Visiting Professor of Management at St. Andrews University in Scotland, and as a Visiting Professor of Management at Thunderbird. Prior to joining the faculty at SDSU, he taught at the University of San Diego and at Texas Christian University. He has also held appointments at the School of Business at Durham University in England, the Center for Business Skill Development in Shanghai, China, Motorola University in Beijing, China, and at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce et de Management in Tour, France. He has published over 60 articles in research and professional journals and has made over 100 presentations for international, national, and regional associations. Mark’s current interests focus on strategic human resource management issues in international settings, strategic effects of corporate training and development programs, team-building and leadership, occupational health and safety, and determining the etiology of crisis and risk in international settings. He has consulting experience with several national and local organizations, including American Airlines, MayCenters Corporation, Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, UCSD Medical Center, National Liberty Insurance Corporation, San Diego City Schools, High Technology Solutions, Cymer, Inc., San Diego Unified Port District, Kapalua Land Company, Ltd., Maui Land & Pineapple Company, and the Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group.
