Andrew
(Andy) H. Barnett, Ph.D. Andrew (Andy) H. Barnett was formerly Director of the San Diego State University School of Accountancy and has been a Professor since 1983. Andy is a Virginia CPA and a member of the California Society of CPA's, the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and the other professional organizations. He has previously held faculty positions at Virginia Tech, Arizona State University, and the University of California, San Diego. He also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen. Andy has developed and instructed numerous continuing professional education (CPE) courses throughout the United States. His courses include seminars in compilation and review services, audits of small businesses, prospective financial statements, and audit staff training courses. He has served on the AICPA's national CPE faculty and as a consultant for clients in public accounting and government. In 1988, he was nationally recognized as the AICPA's Outstanding Discussion Leader. He has taught web-based CPE courses on CPAs' assurance services and accountants' liability and risk management. He also teaches accounting and auditing courses in the Center for Independent Learning at the University of California at Berkeley. Andy has published numerous articles in professional and academic journals, including the Journal of Accountancy, The Practical Accountant, The CPA Journal, Management Accounting, and the International Journal of Accounting Education and Research. His article on fraud detection was recognized as one of the outstanding Journal of Accountancy articles in 1998. Ph.D., Texas Tech University.
