Julia Trunk

SDSU management senior, Julia Trunk, hails from Bad Saulgau, Germany and began playing tennis as a child at the tennis club where her parents were members. She wanted to play tennis after she finished high school and chose to come to SDSU, not only to continue to play tennis, but also because she was looking for new surroundings. “It was very appealing to come to the United States,” she said. “I was ready to leave my town for a while and learn about a new culture and meet new people.”

On the SDSU women’s tennis team, Trunk plays both doubles and singles and she enjoys both for different reasons. “Doubles I love because it’s fun to interact with a partner and, since you share responsibility in doubles, there’s not quite so much pressure as in singles,” said Truck. “In singles, I love the battle and it is a one-on-one flight. When you win, it is extremely rewarding – you can show what you have inside of you.”

Trunk plans to continue her tennis career after she graduates from SDSU in May 2011. “I love tennis and I want to continue with it,” she said. “I will probably be playing in Europe this summer and I’m hoping to come back to San Diego some of the time as I have really learned to love this city.”
