B.S. In AccountancyWorking successfully in today's organization means working as part of a team -- a team of diverse, forward-thinking individuals constantly striving to deliver fully integrated client solutions in an atmosphere of continuous learning. In the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, we prepare students for a lifetime of continuous, self-directed learning. Whether they choose public accounting or accounting positions leading to financial management in business or industry, they are well prepared for the real world. Our faculty enjoys a national reputation for its innovations in accounting education and its contribution to the body of knowledge in accounting, auditing, and taxation. THE SDSU INTEGRATIVE ACCOUNTING CURRICULUM:Our curriculum is a unique, nontraditional program. It is an integration of technical material traditionally found in functional courses. Individual topics are integrated in very much the same manner as they are in business. Faculty teams teach all of our integrative courses. Our recruiters say our graduates are well prepared, they are more mature and independent, and they are willing to accept the challenges of new assignments that confront them with uncertainty and incomplete information for decision making. (View integrative curriculum chart in Acct brochure) IMMERSION IN ACCOUNTING EDUCATION:Generally, a student's experience is a totally new experience in education. He or she learns both individual responsibility and the excitement of teaming together to accomplish challenging objectives. The level and volume of work is not trivial. Students are challenged by the integration of technical content and the development of expanded skills and competencies that are integral to success in business. We expect our students' best effort, but they learn to expect no less of themselves. STUDENT COMMENT:"The [program] is a lesson in leadership. It teaches students to take charge of their actions, to work together as a team, and to overcome difficult obstacles and to achieve unobtainable goals. My sacrifices were minimal compared to the benefits I received. This semester has been life changing. You challenged me like I have never been before. I thank you for tapping into my potential and for encouraging me to do my best."
