Five SDSU accounting students competed in the 10th annual KPMG – Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting (ALPFA) Case Study Competition which took place in Boston from August 9 – 10, 2009.

KPMG’s ALPFA competition pits accounting and finance students against each other to create an accounting business plan for a real-world company. This year, students from 27 universities created a stock-based compensation plan for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

While the SDSU team did not win the competition, each student was guaranteed an interview with KPMG either for an internship or a permanent position within the company. Students must maintain a 3.2 GPA in order to be eligible to participate in the event.

Dr. Steve Gill is the faculty advisor for the SDSU chapter of ALPFA.
