San Diego State University Professor Wins CalCPA’s
Outstanding Accounting Educator Award
Annual award given to SDSU accounting professor after statewide nomination process
SAN DIEGO (July 1, 2010) - The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced today that accounting professor, Will Snyder, has been named as one of 2010’s Outstanding Accounting Educators by CalCPA and the California CPA Education Foundation. Snyder was given a plaque and a cash award during a ceremony at Disneyland during the CalCPA council meeting on June 25, 2010.
Snyder was chosen as a winner of the annual award by the members of CalCPA, a professional organization for certified public accountants licensed within the state of California.
The over 36,000 members of the organization were asked to vote for the full-time California accounting educator they felt “is distinguished through active service in accounting professional organizations, or has made a significant contribution to the growth and enhancement of the education profession through course development or research relating to study, teaching and practice of accountancy.”
“I am honored that so many of my colleagues and former students took the time to nominate and vote for me to receive this special tribute,” said Snyder. “To be chosen for this award when there are so many outstanding academics in the state of California makes it truly special.”
“Will’s impact upon his students is immeasurable,” said Dr. Sharon Lightner, director of SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. “His understanding of the profession and his love for teaching have clearly won him the respect of nearly everyone who has every taken his classes and we are proud to call him ‘one of ours’ at SDSU.”
While at SDSU, Snyder has been the recipient of over three dozen teaching awards including being chosen as the annual “Most Influential Faculty Member” by the top accounting undergraduate student a record 11 times.
