SDSU Finance Professor Awarded Top Fellowship

SAN DIEGO (October 20, 2010) - The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced that professor Dr. Kuntara Pukthuanthong has been awarded a 2010 Lamfalussy Fellowship based on her research proposal “Are Jumps between High and Low Volatility Regimes Correlated across Countries?”

The Fellowship, conferred on behalf of the European Central Bank, is only one of five awarded on an international basis to scholars under the age of 36. It is named for European economist and banker, Alexandre Lamfalussy and carries with it an award of EUR 10,000 for each fellow.

Pukthuanthong, an associate professor of finance at SDSU, has been with the university since 2003 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. “I am truly honored to receive such an important distinction from on behalf of one of the most significant and impactful financial organizations in the world,” said Dr. Pukthanthong. “I am grateful to the European Central Bank and the members of the Lamfalussy Selection Committee as I look forward to continuing my research in the area of international finance for many years to come.”
