On October 30, 2008, SDSU’s newly named Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy held its second annual alumni event for alumni, friends, faculty and staff on the SDSU campus. The event was held to celebrate the naming of the School, to reconnect with alumni and friends, and to recognize the Lamden family and two outstanding School alumni.
A $10 million donation received from the Lamden family in June 2008 prompted the naming of the School. It is one of the largest donations in the history of SDSU and the only one leading to the naming of an SDSU School.

The Lamden children, Dr. William Lamden and Dr. Carol Lamden Corby, were on hand to accept an official naming plaque from the California State University Board of Trustees and to talk about their mother, Trudy and their late father, Dr. Charles Lamden, and their legacy within the School. In addition to his duties as an SDSU accounting professor, Charles Lamden, was the first dean of the College of Business Administration, as well as the first chair of the accounting and management departments. Trudy Lamden completed graduate-level accounting courses at SDSU, however, it was her proficiency in acquiring and managing real estate that allowed the family to offer the gift to the School.
Beth Regan, accounting alumna and former graduate assistant to Dr. Lamden, was honored at the event with a Lamden Alumni Award for assisting with the tax implications which streamlined the gift process for the Lamden family.
Another SDSU accounting alumnus, Lee Barken, was presented with a Lamden Alumni Award for his outstanding volunteer service to the School, including his formation and management of the LinkedIn networking group for SDSU accounting alumni and all his assistance with the October 30 alumni event.
