Rowing competitions have existed for centuries.  Professional rowers competed on the Thames in England in the 18th century as spectators gambled on the races.  In the United States, the first intercollegiate athletic competition was a rowing race between Harvard and Yale in 1852.  Rowing was one of the original sports of the modern Olympics.  Today, rowing is popular among youth, college, and master’s athletes all over the world.  Additionally, an offshoot sport called indoor rowing, where athletes of all ages compete on rowing machines linked by computer, has also become international in scope.  The Rowers’ Racing Resource is a web page to provide information about training for rowing, and the best strategies for competing successfully.
