The Lab's Facilities and Resources

The Infant and Child Developmental Lab at San Diego State University is equipped with a variety of technical resources. These tools include Noldus analog/digital video analysis stations, a Kay Elemetrics Speech analysis/synthesis station, SPSS statistical computing software, and SALT transcription/analysis software.

Within the research space there are two experimental testing rooms that enable video recording in low-light testing contexts through use of infrared lighting. One experimental testing room is dedicated to studies of early vocabulary comprehension. It contains a touch screen kiosk in a curtained enclosure that is supported by the Computerized Comprehension Task software. Another testing room is designed to permit testing in two paradigms simultaneously: a Preferential Looking/Habituation paradigm controlled by Cohen’s Habit 1.X software and standard behavioral observations through a one-way glass with digital video/audio recording capability.
