Infant and Child Studies

The Child Language and Emotion Laboratory at San Diego State University is directed by Margaret Friend, Ph.D., a faculty member in the SDSU Psychology Department and the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Language and Communicative Disorders.  The laboratory provides undergraduate and graduate students with training in infant and child development and with research tools to reveal the exciting developmental changes in thinking, emotion, and language that occur in the early years of life.   Research conducted in the laboratory contributes to the professional literature and to the development of procedures that may assist in identifying children at developmental risk.   We are especially interested in the developmental changes that take place from 12 months to 4 years of age.
