Peek-Inside-A-Journal Publishing Workshop
Wednesday, March 16, 2009 12pm-1:50pm
Location: AL 105
What goes into academic publication? In this workshop, a faculty panel of experienced editors takes us under the covers of a typical journal, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the publishing process. To do so, they will walk us through the life-cycle of a typical academic journal article, answering questions like:
- Which academic journal should I submit to?
- What should my cover letter say?
- The thin red line: How do editors think?
- How will I handle rejection or revision requests?
- What does it take to produce a book?
- And when will I ever find the time to publish anyhow!?
The workshop audience will include graduate students as well as new faculty members and other members of the SDSU community interested in the academic publishing arena. Attendees will leave the workshop able to identify and describe all key steps in the publication process, including common pitfalls. They will have been equipped to develop a personal roadmap to publication success. So save the date!
While a RSVP is not required, please register below by the day before the workshop to ensure a place at this event. We begin promptly at noon. Please allow time to sign in and secure a seat.
