VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
San Diego State University: Dr. Braje’s Archaeology and
Historical Ecology Lab
Dr. Braje is looking for volunteers for his Archaeology and Historical Ecology Lab in HT 135. Students will work with an anthropology graduate student and Dr. Braje to process shell midden samples from Santa Rosa Island, California. Students will begin by washing and preparing the collections for faunal analysis, then learn to sort shellfish, fish, and sea mammal remains and artifacts from excavation units and column samples. Students will need to coordinate with their graduate student mentor to set up regular (weekly) laboratory meeting times and commit to at least one semester of research.
