This page guides you through setting up the following secure settings on Outlook:
Only MicroSoft Office 2003 SP2 or newer versions of Outlook will work with secure settings!
- The POP server using the alternate SSL secured port 995.
- The SMTP server with require STARTTLS on the SMTP port 8025.
- Accepting Rohan's SSL Certificate.
Start Outlook and select Tools -> E-Mail Accounts.
- From the pop up window select View or change existing e-mail accounts.
- Click Next.
- The E-mail Accounts windows opens:
- Select rohan.sdsu.edu account on the left and select Changes

- Verify Incomming Mail Server (POP3): rohan.sdsu.edu
- Verify Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): rohan.sdsu.edu
- Click the More Settings button.
- The Internet E-mail Settings window opens:

- Select the Outgoing Server tab
- Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
- Check Use same settigns as my incoming mail server
- Click the Advanced tab.

- Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Change the Incoming server (POP3): to 995
- Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
- Change the Outgoing server (SMTP): to 8025
- Click OK
- Click Test Account Settings...
- The window Internet Security Warning pops up. Click the Yes button to trust Rohan's certificate.

- The window Test Account Settings will open:

- This test sents a test email to your account. It is normal for it to fail.
- Click Close
- Click Next
- Click Finish
