Configuring Handheld devices for Secure Email
The server for secure email services, IMAP, POP, SMTP, and SMTPS, is rohan.sdsu.edu
Most handheld devices use the older SSL protocol for SMTP, often called SMTPS.
Check your devices manual for information regarding the choice of SMTPS or
STARTTLS.
Choose either SMTP with STARTTLS or
STMPS for sending messages:
- The SMTP server with SSL on the SMTPS port 465.
- The SMTP server with STARTTLS on the SMTP port 8025.
Choose either IMAP or POP for retrieving messages.
- The IMAP server using the alternate SSL secured port 993.
- The POP server using the alternate SSL secured port 995.
It is quite likely that your handheld will not recognize Rohan's SSL
Certificate. If that happens, accept and/or import Rohan's SSL certificate
as required. If you are unable to do so, please let us know at problems@rohan.sdsu.edu.
