usenet

usenet is an Internet service that supplies messages on a vast, decentralized association of computer systems so people around the world can share information. This information is in the form of articles (news) sent to discussion groups (newsgroups), each with its own topic and available via host computers that subscribe (newsfeeds) to newsgroups. usenet is sometimes referred to as netnews and is accessible through client software (newsreaders) on a host, or your own computer. Newsreader software allows you to read and respond to messages in a newsgroup and permits anyone to read what you have written.

Available on ROHAN, rn (for read news) is a UNIX-based newsreader.
