Running SPSS in Batch Mode
To run a command syntax file for SPSS in batch
mode, at the ROHAN prompt, type:
rohan% spss -m filename
The filename that follows the -m switch is assumed to be a command
syntax file, regardless of its extension. You can use the -s switch to
allocate workspace. The syntax command filenames must come last, as in:
rohan% spss -m -s 1512 batchjob.sps
The following syntax rules apply to SPSS command files run in
batch mode:
- Each command must begin in the first column of a new line.
- Continuation lines must be indented at least one space.
- The period at the end of the command is optional.
By default, SPSS sends the text-based output results to the
window from which you executed the job. You can also direct the output to a
file, at the ROHAN prompt type:
rohan% spss -m batchjob.spss > batchjob.out
Please reduce the priority of long running SPSS jobs by using
either the batch or the nice
command. This greatly improves the response of the system while your job is
running.
The system per process cpu limit is 120 minutes.
