foobar

Foobar) is a generic name used to illustrate an idea. The word foobar was derived from the term "FUBAR" which was coined during World War II. "FUBAR" literally stands for: "F***** Up Beyond All Recognition". Often, when a UNIX aficionado needs to name a hypothetical file, instead of calling it "filename1" or "filename2", they will use foobar.
