Email

Email gives you the ability to send and receive electronic messages or files. You can send an Email message to anyone who is connected to the Internet, as long as you know their address. Their address consists of their userid followed by an @ and finally the name of their host computer and its domain name. For example:

rohan% mail  jsmith@rohan.sdsu.edu

If you wish to send Email to someone who is on the same computer that you are logged onto, you only need to type their userid, or, if they are on a different computer but still at San Diego State, it is only necessary to type their userid and their computer name. For example:

rohan% mail  jsmith

or

rohan% mail  jsmith@sundown

There are several different Email programs available on ROHAN. The most commonly used ones are elm, mail, MH & xmh and pine. To find out more about these programs, the following resources are available:
