control

A control character is a combination of the Ctrl (Control) key (represented by a carat (^) symbol) and another key used to send a particular command to UNIX. For example,^H means hold down the Ctrl key and press the H key. The resulting key code can perform various functions such as kill, erase or suspend a line, word, character or file.

By using the stty command, the user can modify their keyboard codes to suit their individual needs.

The default settings on ROHAN are:

    erase    kill    werase  rprnt   flush   lnext   susp    intr   quit   stop    eof
    ^H       ^U      ^W      ^R      ^O      ^V      ^Z/^Y   ^C     ^\     ^S/^Q   ^D
