ascii

ascii stands for "American Standard Code for Information Interchange". ASCII is the code that the computer uses to store letters, numbers, punctuation and control codes.

The order of characters in the ASCII code is:

  • control characters (including the tab)
  • the space character
  • (symbols) ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . /
  • (numbers) 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
  • (more symbols) : ; < = > ? @
  • (uppercase letters) A-Z
  • (more symbols) [ \ ] ^ _ `
  • (lowercase letters) a-z
  • (more symbols) { | } ~
