ROHAN Web Server - FTP File Transfers

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If your html files are created on a Macintosh, PC or any workstation other than ROHAN, the files must be transferred to ROHAN using an FTP (File Transfer Protocol ) program (i.e. Fetch, MacIP, SSH, WS_FTP, etc.). The files should be transferred to your ROHAN public_html sub-directory [This is a directory one level below the home directory (which is the directory you are in when logging into ROHAN)].

*SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is highly recommended and may be required in the future. For a Windows version of a SFTP program, go to the SCC's website and download SSH, Putty, or Win SCP. For Macintosh users, Fetch can do SFTP.

NOTE:
HTML and CGI files should be transferred in text (ASCII) mode.
PDF, GIF, and JPEG files must be transferred in binary mode (raw data).

Students - If you do not have an FTP program installed on your workstation, the Student Computing Center (LL-200) is equipped with personal computers (Macintoshes and PC's) with FTP software already installed. There are assistants in the SCC who may be able to assist with your transfer. FTP and additional web page help can also be obtained at the Help Desk in LL-200.

Faculty and Academic Staff - If you do not have an FTP program installed on your workstation, contact your department or college consultant for assistance (see URL - http://rohan.sdsu.edu/solutions.shtml or http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/~facstaff/ for contact information).
