Pentomino Rotation Activity

Goal of Activity:

Determine the number of unique pentomino groups included in the set below.

Directions:

When looking for all unique arrangements, it’s useful to have a strategy to be sure you can recognize any shapes that are duplicates. If one pentomino can be rotated or flipped to align atop another, then the two are not unique.  In order to help you count the groups, you can sort the various shapes by dragging the point shown on each.  You can rotate each point by clicking and dragging on the "Rotate" point associated with each shape.  How many unique shapes are there below?

NOTE: These videos will appear in separate windows and make take some time appear.  Please be patient!
