4.  Measurement Addition

Text Box: A quantity may be measured by thinking of the object being “cut” into a (finite) number of pieces, measuring the quantity in each piece, and then adding up those measurement values.  
For example, we could measure the perimeter of a table by adding the lengths of all sides, or the area of an object by cutting it into smaller, measureable pieces.  Consider the next question….
