Currently working to complete Masters degree by Spring 1999, in preparation for doctoral studies in Spanish. Courses include Spanish Linguistics, Spanish and Latin-American Literature, and Multimedia in the Classroom.

Completed coursework portion of degree (equivalent of Masters). Courses included Methods of Language Teaching, Language Acquisition, Discourse Analysis, and others. Attended symposia in Stylistic Studies (1991) and Classroom Research in English (1992).

Received extensive training in language teaching and a sophisticated methodology developed by the department for use in its language classes.

1988 Licenciatura en Filología, Universidad de Sevilla

Five-year college degree in languages and literature. Coursework included Spanish Linguistics, Spanish Literature, Critical Analysis, English Linguistics, English Literature and American Literature. In 1984, was one of four students admitted to a summer program at the State University of New York at New Paltz.

1987 Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica (Teaching Certificate), Universidad de Sevilla

Completed a one-year program consisting of coursework and practical training for teaching high school.

Other Activities

1993-1995 Tutor at Leverett House, a residence hall at Harvard University. Conducted a weekly Spanish table at the Leverett House dining hall.and participated in other house social activities. Also competed in intramural sports, and was once awarded Leverett House Athlete of the Week.

Enjoys downhill skiing and participating in amateur tennis leagues and tournaments.

Teaching and Learning Interests

I enjoy teaching introductory-level Spanish courses and I am very interested in developing and using multimedia in the classroom.
