He has traveled extensively and has lived in and taught English in France, Spain, Mexico, Australia, Italy, and Iran. I plan to make a proposal to the Spanish Department to teach an experimental accelerated Spanish course that I have already written and taught. The course is designed take beginning students from beginning Spanish to low or high intermediate Spanish in one semester. On completion of the course, the students will have completed all the grammatical tenses, including the subjunctive, and will have had enough practice speaking, reading and writing to handle intermediate level material. They will also have been exposed to 3,000 words of basic vocabulary. The Department can then place the students at whatever level their achievement scores indicate.
