A native of Michigan, Frank Irgang earned degrees from Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan. His first book Etched in Purple, based on his wartime experiences covering combat in battles from the beaches of Normandy to Berlin, was published while he was a student in 1949. He taught in public schools in Michigan for five years before accepting a position at San Diego State University. During his 26 years as professor and department chairman at SDSU, he wrote a number of articles for magazines and professional journals. Upon retirement, Dr. Irgang began work upon The Wyandotte, a historical novel about America as it was during colonial times when Europeans began pushing inland from the coast. His latest book, Beneath the Snows of Stalingrad, tells in graphic detail the horrors of that terrible carnage. As with all his books, author Irgang visited the sight of each scene, walking the battlefields from North Africa to Stalingrad with veterans of those battles. Frank Irgang currently resides in San Diego and is at work on another novel, The Hairbuyer, a sequel to The Wyandotte, about Major Hamilton, the subsequent British commandant at Detroit who, by paying Indians for American scalps, masterminded a broad swath of death and destruction. You may contact Dr. Irgang at his email address of firgang@rohan.sdsu.edu. Frank
