Discussion Questions for July 24, 2006:

1) Who is responsible for enforcing consumer rights, and how well do you think 'they' are doing it?

2) Do consumers have a duty to shop ethically? How should they determine what products and services are 'ethical'?

3) How far are you willing to go to uphold your duties as a consumer?

4) What is the influence of advertising on the rights and duties of consumers?

5) Would you rather have the government regulate your free choice or corporations manipulating your free choice? (paternalism vs maternalism)

6) Is advertising to children ethical? Is fast food and junk food advertising to blame for childhood obesity problems?

7) Should people be able to file lawsuits against fast food companies like they did tobacco companies?

8) How much safety are you willing to sacrifice for cheaper goods?

9) Do product liability lawsuits hurt more people than they help? Do these types of lawsuits stifle innovation?
