Project Proposal:

Bernadette M. Pujeda

Project Overview

Profile on Ma-Ma's Kitchen Ma-Ma's kitchen is a volunteer-based organization which provides meals for AIDS victims throughout the San Diego County. They have 500 active volunteers who pack the meals and deliever them directly for the clients. The organization was founded in 1990 and entering the year 2000 their clientele base has grown since. Currently they have approximately 400 clients. As Jack(Director of Voluneer) told me the first day I went to Ma-Ma's Kitchen, their clients are no longer just gay males put consist of "a Potpurri of Diversity" ranging from mothers and their children to ethnic individuals. The importance of having their committed volunteers is what keeps their organization running strong and fulfill their mission which is "to prepare and deliver meals to those with AIDS unable to provide for themselves."

My PROJECT PROPOSAL: The Millionth Meal
Ma-Ma's Kitchen will be celebrating their Millionth Meal this coming March or April. It will depend on how many meals will be going out from now until then. My goal is to contact at least 10 corporations both large and small and give them an overview of my proposal and the wonderful organization I am working for and ask for donations. Hopefully, one huge corporation will be willing to underwrite all the costs for this special day which would approximately be $2,000-$3,000. If one corporation cannot underwrite all costs, then I will ask for several donations from the ones I do contact and ask for donations in increments of $500($500,$1,000, $1,500, etc).
In turn, these donating corporations will receive recognition in Ma-Ma's Kitchen Newletter, as well as, at their recognition ceremony. In addition, they will also be recognized on the that go out that day by having their names typed out on labels and stuck onto the bags that go out this day. I am aiming to advertise the donating companies through our Aztec newspaper, San Diego Union Tribune, and if I get lucky, on the News.
